Crochet a super chunky merino wool scarf
Use basic crochet to create a wonderfully soft, cosy and warm scarf in neutral colours. Make scarves for everyone for Christmas and then there’s no need to schlep around the shops this year! You’re welcome.
You will need:
- 100% wool tops (the kind used for arm knitting). I bought about 100g of mine from PureWoolHut on Etsy.
- 12mm crochet hook
- Pair of scissors
Instructions
- Split wool into half along its length. Join the two pieces using a magic knot (there are lots of online tutorials available for this).
- Chain 22
- row 1 – 1 sc in each ch to end (total 22 stitches). Join using ss.
- row 2 – ch2 (counts as first stitch) 1 dc in each st to end (total 22 stitches). Join to first stitch using ss.
- row 3 – ch1 (counts as first stitch), 1 sc in each st to end (total 22 stitches). Join to first stitch using ss.
- row 4 – repeat row 2
- row 5 – 6 – repeat row 3
- Finish off. Weave in ends using crochet hook.
