Maiden Aunt is raising money for Mind
I am an ardent mental health campaigner who is evangelical about the benefits of crafting for mental health and well being. I was organising crafternoons to raise mental health awareness and cash for Mind, the mental health charity well before the Mind Crafternoon became a thing. So it is really exciting for me to see the Mind Crafternoon team growing and hiring dedicated staff.
This year I’m taking my crafternoon into the public sphere and will be hosting it at Babylon 76-78, SW20. It’s the latest addition to our local shops and not only is it super stylish but it also has mouth-watering cakes by the counter load.
We will be making toasty mittens using jumpers that have shrunk in the wash (we’ve all done it). We will also be embroidering geometric journals. Make as many things as you like in the time. These are perfect as Christmas gifts so you won’t need to hit the high street or panic buy online.
All of the £30 ticket will go to Mind and the wonderful work that it does. It’s a tragedy that every two hours, someone in England and Wales takes their own life. This can’t go on. Mind is determined that in 2019 more people will get help early on. Your donations will support this work.
The crafternoon will take place 2-4pm on Saturday 1 December. Please book early as spaces are limited. And let me know if you need me to shrink a jumper for you for £5.
